The short version
- There's no Jigsaw Rally account. You appear on the Boards under a board name and Jig avatar you pick, linked to your iCloud account by an anonymous ID. Game Center is optional, for the Friends boards. We never see your Apple ID, email or password.
- Your solves, bests and streak stay on your device. Only your ranked times, with your board name and a few markers, go on the Boards.
- If you create a Custom Race, the photo you choose is resized, stripped of location and other metadata, and shared only with the people you invite.
- No ads, no data sales, no third-party tracking.
- Questions or requests: hello@jigsawrally.com.
01Who we are
Jigsaw Rally (the "app") and jigsawrally.com (the "website") are made by Amphora LLC, an Arizona limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app and website handle, how it's used, and the choices you have.
02What the app handles
| Information | Where it lives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Board name and avatar: the nickname and Jig avatar you pick, and an anonymous ID Apple's iCloud assigns to you for this app | Jigsaw Rally's public CloudKit database, hosted by Apple | To show you on the Everyone boards and race boards, and so only you can change your own times. |
| Game Center profile, only if you sign in: your player ID, alias and avatar | Apple's Game Center | To show friends' times and keep your history when you change phones. |
| Scores: your time, plus small markers for device type (Duo, iPad, iPhone) and any assists used | Your device and Jigsaw Rally's public CloudKit database, plus Game Center leaderboards if you sign in | To rank daily, weekly, ranked pack and race results, and to show the device and assist icons beside each time. |
| Solve log: timestamps of moves, joins, pauses and assists during a solve, and whether a screenshot or screen recording happened during a ranked solve | Your device only | To compute an accurate time, check a solve is plausible before it's ranked, and answer support questions about a disputed time. |
| Leisure progress and settings | Your device and your private iCloud database | So in-progress puzzles sync across your devices. We can't read your private iCloud data. |
| Streaks and stats | Your device and your private iCloud database | To show your streaks, bests and trends. |
| Ranked attempts: which daily and weekly puzzles you've started a ranked run on | Your private iCloud key-value storage | So a ranked attempt can't be replayed after a reinstall or on a new phone. |
| Purchases: whether you have Pro or own a pack | Apple's App Store; entitlement checked on your device | To unlock what you've paid for. Apple processes payment; we never see your card details. |
| Notification preferences | Your device | To send the reminders you've turned on, such as your daily reminder or the weekly peek. |
03Custom Races and photos
When a Pro member creates a Custom Race, they pick a photo and a piece count. Before anything leaves the device, the app:
- crops and resizes the photo to the puzzle size,
- removes all metadata, including GPS location, camera details and dates, and
- runs an on-device check for inappropriate content. The photo is not sent anywhere for this check.
The processed image, the puzzle's settings and the race's results (each racer's board name, avatar, time and markers) are stored in Jigsaw Rally's public CloudKit database, which Apple hosts. Anyone with the invite link can open the race and see the photo and the race board, so only share links with people you'd show the photo to. Custom League details (the league name, its members' board names and their results) are stored the same way.
Each race has report and block controls. If you report an image, we review it and may remove it.
04What we don't do
- We don't show ads, and we don't use advertising identifiers.
- We don't sell or rent personal information, or share it for targeted advertising.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We don't ask for your name, email, contacts, location or microphone.
- The photo library is only accessed when you choose a photo for a Custom Race, through Apple's photo picker.
05Apple services
Jigsaw Rally is built entirely on Apple services: CloudKit for the Boards, race images and sync, Game Center for the optional Friends boards, StoreKit for purchases, and Apple's notification service. Apple's handling of that information is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. Your Game Center visibility (who can see your profile and invite you) is controlled in your device's Game Center settings.
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. We use these only to fix bugs and improve performance.
06This website
jigsawrally.com sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Like any website, our host (Vercel) keeps short-lived server logs, such as IP address and browser type, for security and reliability. Our fonts are served by Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when it delivers them.
If you email us, we use your email address and message only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation.
07How long we keep data
- Solve logs stay on your device until you delete the app.
- Custom Race images and results are deleted two weeks after the race ends. The creator can delete a race sooner from its menu, you can ask us to delete one at any time, and we'll remove images that are reported and found to break our rules.
- Scores on the Boards are kept with each board's results. Remove your board name and times any time with Delete my board data in the app's Settings, or email us. Game Center keeps its own copy if you use it.
- Support emails are kept for up to two years, then deleted.
08Your choices
- Notifications: turn any reminder on or off in the app, or turn them all off in iOS Settings.
- Board name: change it any time in the app, under Me.
- Blocking: tap a name on a board, or use a race's menu, to block that player. Their times and races are then hidden on your device.
- Game Center: change your alias, avatar, friends and profile privacy in iOS Settings, under Game Center.
- iCloud sync: turn off iCloud for Jigsaw Rally in iOS Settings, under your name, then iCloud. You can delete the synced data there too.
- Custom Races: delete a race you made from its menu, or email us with the race link or name and we'll delete its image and results.
- Board data: Delete my board data in Settings removes your board name, times, and the races and leagues you made.
- Everything on your device: deleting the app removes its local data, including solve logs.
09Children
Jigsaw Rally is made for all ages, including families and classrooms. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 ourselves. Children's Game Center profiles, purchases and Ask to Buy are managed by parents through Apple's Family Sharing. Creating a Custom Race requires Pro, so on a child's account it needs a parent's approval. If you believe a child has shared personal information with us, for example in a race photo, email us and we'll remove it.
10Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, or to object to how it's used. California residents also have the right to know what's collected and the right not to be discriminated against for using these rights. We don't sell or share personal information as California law defines it.
Most Jigsaw Rally data is held by Apple on your behalf and can be managed in your device's settings. For anything we hold, such as race images or support emails, email hello@jigsawrally.com. We'll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
11Security
Data is protected in transit with encryption, and stored by Apple's services. Because there are no Jigsaw Rally accounts or passwords, there's no password database to leak. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we handle to a minimum.
12Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also let you know in the app before it takes effect.
