Puzzle race

Race your friends on the exact same jigsaw.

In Jigsaw Rally everyone gets the identical puzzle: the same picture, the same cut and the same starting scatter. So when someone beats you, they really were faster. Race the world on the daily, or your own people on a photo you pick.

Three ways to race

  • The Daily RallyThe whole world races one free 48-piece puzzle every day, with one ranked try each. How the daily works.
  • Custom RacesTurn any photo into a race, pick 48, 108 or 192 pieces, and send the link. Friends have 24 hours. Make one from a photo.
  • Custom LeaguesA saved group, like a family or a class, that races again and again with running standings.

What makes it a fair race

  1. The same cut and scatter for everyoneEvery piece has the same shape and starts in the same spot on every player's table.
  2. A clock you can trustIt starts the moment the last piece settles and stops on the join that makes every piece one group. Pausing hides the puzzle and stops the clock, and pauses are recorded with the solve.
  3. Pieces that behave like cardboardA lone piece never snaps to the board. It only locks when you drop it next to a piece it truly fits, so the app never gives the answer away.
  4. Assists cost time, in the openA peek at the picture adds 5 seconds, the edge filter 20, placed corners 10 and a nudge 15. Assisted times carry a marker.
  5. Implausible solves are held backThe app checks every solve before ranking it, and players can report a time that looks wrong.

A race board for every group

Use it for a family reunion, a birthday, a classroom or the group chat. One Pro member creates the race, everyone else plays free on their own phone, and the board ranks finishers as they come in.

Want a longer rivalry? A Custom League keeps a running leaderboard across every race you post.

Questions

Puzzle race FAQ

How does a jigsaw puzzle race work?

Everyone solves the same puzzle, cut and scattered exactly the same way, on their own phone. The clock starts when the pieces settle and stops on the final join, and the fastest time wins. Nobody has to be online at the same moment.

Is it fair if we play on different devices?

Every time shows its device (iPhone, iPad or iPhone Duo), and Duo players have their own Duo board, since the open Duo's second screen helps a little. Free and Pro players share one board, and paying never buys rank.

Do my friends need to pay to join a race?

No. Anyone you invite plays free. Only creating a Custom Race or a league needs Jigsaw Rally Pro ($3.99 a month or $24.99 a year in the US).

How long does a Custom Race stay open?

24 hours from when you create it. The race board fills as people finish, and everyone can see the final standings.

Can we race live, at the same time?

Races are asynchronous: everyone plays on their own time within the window, which works across time zones. Sitting together and starting at once works too, since everyone gets the same puzzle.

What sizes can a race be?

48, 108 or 192 pieces. 48 is a quick sprint and friendly for kids; 192 is a proper challenge.

Who's the fastest in your family?
